Now that I’ve started to make some social life on social networks I had to implement a shield that protect my eyes from very bad writing (I come from tech sites like slashdot and similar that are full of grammar nazi). If you are sick (as I am) of seeing: OMG????? loooooooool!!!1oneone and you use Firefox together with the fabulous Greasemonkey extension than try the little program I’ve wrote. It will make your life better.
GLord is a greasemonkey script that filters away a various range of errors, punctuation marks used improperly and SMS-like abbreviations. Currently GLord has these functionalities:
*) Support for english and italian
*) Corrects multiple punctuation marks in a row (like: !!!!1 or ????)
*) Corrects multiple vocals in a row (like ooooooowned)
*) Corrects most common spelling mistakes (like: alot, sentance, gr8)
*) Unicode-aware
*) AJAX-aware
You can download it here. Once installed GLord will filter away errors from every page you access. It registers two menu items that will show you page specific informations and global statistics (worst page ever, errors detected etc). Here there is a test page that will show you GLord functionalities.
P.S. I’m not a grammar overlord. My written english is very bad (but I’m an italian grammar nazi).

Ah, as expected from Bjo. Perché effettivamente siamo stati cresciuti a mIRC, il più grande covo di Grammar Nazis mai generato dall’uomo.
E ci è sempre piaciuto.
Il linguaggio strutturato, che sia codificato o naturale, è ciò che ci pone qualche millimetro più in alto rispetto ai vermi nella scala evolutiva, ma allora perché ci accaniamo così profusamente nel demolire ciò che abbiamo di più avanzato?
Quindi gloria a GLord e morte a GLord!
Che ci medichi gli occhi feriti fino a che non avremo più bisogno di lui.
On a side note: se mi posso permettere, oh grande Bjo, ti suggerisco di dare un’occhiata a jQuery; ha cambiato il mio modo di fare traversing e manipulation di HTML. E mi ha trasformato in un JS dipendente.

jQuery e Prototype sono due regali che ci giungono dall’alto. Anche la mia vita è cambiata nel momento stesso in cui ho visto `function $’. In quel momento ho capito che potevo parlare a Webkit, gecko, Presto e IE senza produrmi in dialetto.

Grandioso, ho avuto la tua stessa idea due mesi fa, ma l’ho mollata per scarsa conoscenza di greasemonkey.
Ho però fatto la stessa cosa per ChickenFoot, ma non è proprio comodo come GLord …
